Lisa Oliver, M.D.

After obtaining her undergraduate and medical degrees in Texas, Lisa practiced emergency medicine for eight years, during which she was struck by how often stress is the underlying cause of emergency room visits for both injury and illness.

With the arrival of her two children, she took a few years to be at home with them.   After that, Lisa served the Texas Rehabilitation Commission as a consultant working with patients who had chronic disabilities.  During this time, she noticed how essential the individual's commitment to self-healing can be, as well as the need to address the entire mind/body/spirit in the healing process.

Additionally, during her practice of yoga over the past several years, Lisa discovered the innate healing power of yoga and its ability to open the body to its own wisdom.  She received her Kripalu Yoga Instructor certification in 2006, with subsequent certification in Restorative Yoga and Positional Release Therapy in 2007.

At Mountain Waves, she now combines her medical expertise with her yoga and myotherapy training to offer neuromuscular re-education for those in pain from either acute or chronic injury or illness.  She works closely with a client's treating physician to maximize the benefit of her therapies.  Lisa can also be found teaching Gentle and Restorative Yoga classes as she enjoys the special healing community of Mountain Waves Healing Arts.
